Deck Sanding Capel Sound

Decks in Capel Sound take a hammering. Located a few streets in from the water at most, and with typical stock of postwar shacks with newer coastal infill (formerly rosebud west), the average deck here sees hard summer sun, southerly wind and salt spray year-round.

The finish that was on it two summers ago is very likely silver, splintering and starting to lift. Left much longer and boards start splitting through the fixings — then the job becomes replacement rather than restoration.

Near Rosebud West foreshore, we’ve done a lot of work on both original 1970s decks and more recent hardwood rebuilds. The process is the same: sand back to raw timber, replace anything split, then oil with a system chosen for your specific exposure.

A refreshed Peninsula deck should last two summers of full use before it needs another top-up — and that top-up is a quick job compared to a full strip-back.
