Dustless sanding — more accurately, dust-controlled sanding — is what we use as standard on every job. Modern sanders draw airborne dust straight into sealed collection units, so almost nothing ends up on your furniture, in your fabric, or in your lungs.
For clients with asthma, small children, valuable art or restored joinery, this matters. It’s also just cleaner work all round.
We treat this as our default. If you specifically want the highest-spec dust extraction package for a sensitive household, we can quote that as an upgrade — but you’re already getting the modern standard on any job.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Is dustless sanding actually dust-free?
No — nothing that involves cutting timber is truly zero-dust. What it does mean is 90%+ of dust is captured at source, and the airborne component is dramatically reduced.
Can we stay in the house during work?
Yes, in rooms not being worked on. We seal off the active work area. Most clients continue normal life in the other end of the house.
What about pets?
Cats and dogs are fine in unaffected rooms. Birds are more sensitive to any dust and coating fumes — we recommend they go elsewhere for the coating stage.
Does dustless sanding cost extra?
No — it’s our standard rate. Enhanced extraction for asthma or allergy households can be added but is rarely needed.
Will there be any clean-up?
A fine settled dust on high horizontal surfaces after sanding is normal. We clean it before applying coats.
Is the finish system also low-VOC?
Water-based finishes are low-VOC and near-odourless. Oil-based finishes still have noticeable fumes during drying. We’ll match the coating system to your household.
Can you use dust extraction on edgers too?
Yes — our edgers and detail sanders are all HEPA-connected. The main dust source used to be the edges; that’s no longer the case.
What if I have valuable artwork or antiques?
Move anything you can. What can’t be moved we cover in plastic and tape off. Discuss with us before we start.
