Australian Heritage Hybrid

Australian Heritage Hybrid is the range we point people to when the floor has to survive genuine wet — laundries, bathrooms, entries off a pool, and houses where the dog comes in wet more often than not.

The core is SPC: stone plastic composite, an extruded blend of limestone powder and virgin PVC. That composition is the whole reason the floor works where timber cannot. There is no organic fibre in the core to absorb water, swell or delaminate, so the board is dimensionally stable in a bathroom and completely waterproof rather than merely water-resistant. It is also rigid, which means it bridges minor subfloor imperfections better than a flexible vinyl plank.

Boards are 1830mm long and 183mm wide at 7mm total thickness, and that 7mm includes an integrated IXPE acoustic base bonded to the underside. The integration matters practically: there is no separate underlay to roll out, tape and keep flat, so the floor goes down faster and the acoustic layer cannot shift or bunch under the boards over time. It contributes to a 5-star acoustic rating, which is what body corporates generally want to see in an apartment or townhouse.

Above the core sits a high-definition decor layer reproducing Australian species, protected by a 0.5mm wear layer. Half a millimetre is a heavy-duty commercial-grade thickness, and it carries an AC4 light commercial rating — the floor is rated for shopfronts and offices, not just houses. The surface is embossed and finished with a ceramic antimicrobial coating, and micro-bevels on each edge give the boards definition so the floor reads as individual planks rather than a continuous sheet.

Installation is floating only, using a Unilin click system. The boards lock without adhesive, which keeps the floor liftable and makes it a practical choice for rentals and staged renovations.

The floor carries a P3 slip rating and is backed by a limited lifetime residential warranty, a 10-year commercial warranty and a lifetime structural warranty.

Set expectations honestly: this is not timber. It is a printed decor, and up close it does not have the depth of a real veneer. What it has instead is total waterproofing, commercial durability and a price and install speed that timber cannot match. In the rooms where timber genuinely should not go, it is the better floor.

This range suits family homes with children and pets, rental and investment properties, holiday houses that sit empty between bookings, and any renovation running a single continuous floor from living areas through a kitchen into a laundry. It is also the sensible choice for ground-floor apartments and townhouses, where the integrated acoustic layer and the 5-star rating usually satisfy a body corporate without further work.
