Highland Hybrid Collection

Highland Hybrid is the most straightforward floor we carry, and that is the point. It does the essential job of a hybrid floor — completely waterproof, quick to lay, durable enough for a busy household — without the additions that push the price of the other hybrid ranges up.

The core is rigid limestone composite: stone powder bound in a polymer matrix, with no organic fibre to absorb water. The floor is genuinely waterproof rather than water-resistant, so it can run continuously from a living area through a kitchen and into a laundry without a threshold or a change of material. For a rental property or an investment renovation, that continuity is worth as much as the durability.

Total thickness is 6mm, which is slim, and the slimness is deliberate. A thinner board means less height build-up against existing floor levels — often the difference between needing to trim every internal door and not needing to. In a renovation where the new floor is going over an existing slab and butting up to tiled wet areas or an existing timber floor, 6mm frequently solves a transition problem that a 7mm or 8mm board creates.

The wear layer is a full 0.5mm despite the slim overall profile, which is the specification that actually determines how long the floor lasts. That is the same wear layer as our thicker hybrid ranges — the reduction is in the core and the underlay, not in the surface that takes the traffic.

Underneath is a 1mm IXPE acoustic underlay, bonded to the board so there is no separate layer to roll out, tape and keep flat. It contributes to a 5-star acoustic rating, which is generally what a body corporate wants to see for an apartment or townhouse.

The surface is an embossed woodgrain in a lacquer matte finish, with a micro-bevel edge giving each plank its own shadow line. Boards are 1520 × 180mm and lock with an angle-to-angle click profile — floating installation, no adhesive, and the floor lifts again if it ever needs to.

This range suits rental and investment properties, quick turnarounds between tenancies, budget-conscious renovations, and any job where the new floor has to meet existing tiles or timber without a noticeable step. Being fully waterproof it runs continuously through kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, so a whole property can be done in one material with no thresholds and no change of floor at the door.
