ABOUT ALPINE GUM
Alpine Gum takes the Spotted Gum look and cools it. Where a straight Spotted Gum decor runs warm orange-brown through to chocolate, this one pulls the orange back toward a greyer, more muted brown while keeping the species' distinctive colour swing and interlocked grain figure.
The effect is a floor with all the movement of an Australian hardwood but far less heat in the colour. That matters in a contemporary interior where a strongly orange floor would fight the palette — cool greys, white walls, black tapware — but where a flat grey floor would feel lifeless. Alpine Gum sits between the two.
The board-to-board variation is still substantial, and it does the same practical work it does on any high-contrast floor: crumbs, pet hair and everyday scuffs disappear into the pattern rather than sitting on top of it. In a busy kitchen or a hallway off the garden that is a genuine advantage.
This is a 1520 × 180mm board, the narrower of the two formats in this range, which suits the tighter grain scale of an Australian species and reads closer to traditional hardwood strip flooring than the wider oak-look boards.
Being a printed decor, it does not have the depth of a real veneer up close. What it has is total waterproofing, a commercial wear layer and the cork backing that makes this range quiet and comfortable underfoot.
