ABOUT RED EARTH OAK
Red Earth Oak is the deepest warm board in the range — a rich russet brown carrying a genuine red undertone, closer to the colour of Australian earth than to any European oak floor left to its own devices.
The depth changes what the floor does to a room. Where a mid-brown board is neutral background, this one is a presence. It makes a large open space feel more enclosed and settled, and it gives a room with high ceilings a base heavy enough to anchor it. In a smaller room it will read as intimate or as closed-in depending on how much natural light there is, so it rewards being seen in place before ordering.
The wire-brushed grain does a lot of work here. On a deep colour the texture is what stops the floor reading as a flat expanse of brown — the recessed grain holds more pigment and creates visible line work across every board.
It sits well with cream, warm white and soft terracotta walls, with brass and aged bronze, and with leather and natural stone. It fights with cool greys and stark whites, where the red undertone reads as a clash.
As with all dark floors, dust and pet hair show more than they do on a mid-tone. The 20% gloss level helps considerably — there is no shine to throw highlights across the surface.
