Byron Honey

Byron Honey is the warmest board in this collection. The finish leans into European Oak's natural golden undertone rather than correcting it, producing a floor with genuine amber depth — closest of the five to the colour a traditional oil-finished oak floor develops after a few years of sunlight.

Warmth is the whole point here. In a period home, or in any room where the architecture is doing something soft — arched openings, panelled walls, a fireplace — a warm floor completes the picture in a way a neutral one cannot. It makes a large, hard-surfaced room feel less austere, which is why it works well in open-plan extensions on older houses.

The grain shows a little more than it does on the paler boards, because the honey tone deepens in the open grain and creates contrast along the figure. The result has movement without being busy.

It sits happily with cream and warm-white walls, brass or aged-bronze hardware, and natural stone. Be more deliberate pairing it with cool greys and stark whites, where the amber can read as a clash rather than a contrast. If you like the warmth but want it dialled back, Mornington is the same floor with the gold removed.
