Mornington

Mornington is the middle of the range and the safest choice in it. The tone is a true mid-brown oak — not pulled warm with red, not cooled off toward grey — which is exactly why it sits comfortably against almost any wall colour and joinery finish you already have.

The grain reads quietly. There is figure in the veneer, but the colour is even enough across the board that no single plank jumps out of the floor, and that evenness is what makes it work across a whole house rather than one room. Laid through a hallway, living area and bedrooms, it holds together as a single surface instead of drawing attention to the transitions.

It pairs particularly well with white and off-white walls, where the brown reads warm without tipping orange, and with the pale stone and matte black tapware common in Peninsula kitchen renovations. Against darker joinery it holds its own rather than disappearing.

Practically, mid-tones are the most forgiving floors to live with. Very pale floors show every mark; very dark floors show every speck of dust and every footprint. Mornington sits between the two and is the colour we recommend most often to families with dogs, children, or a front door that opens onto sand.
