European Oak

European Oak is the one decor in this range that is not chasing an Australian species. It reproduces the mid-brown oak floor that has become the default in contemporary Australian interiors — neutral, evenly toned, with the moderate open grain characteristic of oak rather than the tighter figure of a eucalypt.

That makes it the most versatile board in the collection and usually the right answer when a hybrid floor has to sit alongside existing engineered oak elsewhere in the house. If the living areas are laid in an oak floor from one of our engineered ranges and the laundry and bathroom need something waterproof, this decor gets closest to a continuous look across the threshold. It will not match exactly — a printed decor and a real 2mm veneer never do — but the tone and grain scale are close enough that the transition reads as intentional.

On its own merits it is a genuinely easy floor to specify. The neutral mid-brown neither warms nor cools a room, so it works against almost any wall colour, benchtop or joinery finish, and it will still work if those change later.

Mid-tones are also the most practical floors to maintain. Dust does not stand out the way it does on dark boards, and dark grit does not stand out the way it does on pale ones.
