Driftwood Oak

Driftwood Oak is the most characterful board in the Coastal Oak Collection. Where Seaside Grey is an even weathered grey, this one carries more variation — grey and brown shifting board to board, some planks noticeably warmer than their neighbours, in the way genuinely weathered timber never darkens uniformly.

That variation is the appeal and it is worth understanding before ordering. Laid across a room the floor has visible movement and life; no two areas look quite the same. If you want a uniform floor this is the wrong board and Peninsula Oak is the right one. If you want a floor that looks like it has been there a while and acquired some history, this is the one in the range that does it.

The wire-brushed grain amplifies the effect. The texture catches light differently across boards of different tone, so the floor changes noticeably as you move through the room and as the light changes through the day.

It suits relaxed coastal and rustic interiors — natural fibre rugs, weathered timber furniture, white or soft grey walls, plenty of texture in the soft furnishings. It works less well in a strictly minimal interior, where its variation reads as noise against clean lines.

Practically the mixed tone is forgiving. Sand, grit and everyday marks all disappear into the variation rather than sitting on top of it, which makes it a sound choice for a holiday house that gets used hard.
