Peninsula Oak

Peninsula Oak is the balance point of this collection — an honest natural oak with neither a warm push nor a cool correction. Alongside Coastal Estate it is lighter and less golden; alongside Coastal Sand it is deeper and more substantial.

Its neutrality is the reason to choose it. With no strong bias in either direction, it will not force decisions elsewhere in the room, which makes it the easiest board to commit to early in a renovation when the wall colours, benchtops and joinery are still open. Whichever way those choices go, the floor will still work.

The wire-brushed surface gives it texture and keeps a neutral colour from reading as bland. Under changing daylight it shifts convincingly — slightly warmer in afternoon sun, cooler under an overcast sky — which is a quality no printed floor manages.

It suits almost any Peninsula interior: the coastal palette it was named for, but equally a period home or a straightforward contemporary renovation with no coastal reference at all.

If you are laying a floor through a whole house rather than one room, this is the board that will look right in the most rooms. Front room with morning sun, hallway with no natural light at all, west-facing living area that gets hammered at four o'clock — it holds up in all three.
