Flooring Hastings

Before we quote a floor in Hastings, we want to know what era the house is and what condition the subfloor is in. Post-war and industrial-era brick veneer, with older weatherboard closer to the foreshore. Hardwood strip in the brick veneer homes; softwood in the older weatherboard.

The Western Port side is a gentler proposition than the ocean coast. There is salt in the air, but it is moderate, and the flat sheltered land means wind-driven exposure is far less of a factor. What does matter is ground moisture: much of this country sits low, and older homes here often have limited subfloor clearance and ventilation to match. We check that before recommending anything, because it decides whether timber is sensible or whether a waterproof product is the better answer.

Supply. Once you’ve chosen, we order through our trade accounts and coordinate delivery. Timber is acclimatised on site before installation — this isn’t optional, particularly in Hastings where conditions can shift quickly.

Installation. Our installers handle subfloor preparation, the install itself, trims and transitions, and the clean-up. Work is completed to Australian Standards.

Aftercare. We’ll tell you how to look after it — which is usually simpler than people expect, and mostly about grit control at the door.
